The Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH)

The construction industry has a new challenge to meet and we are here to help you do it. In meeting this challenge you will broaden the sales opportunities for the houses you are looking to build.

The Code for Sustainable Homes is a new tool to assess the environmental performance of new-build homes.

Licensed assessor (CSH Assessor)

We are licensed Assessors for the Code for Sustainable Homes and can provide comprehensive advice on ways to enhance your house sales by achieving good star ratings within the scheme.

For example, we can show you how to achieve 3 stars on the Code for Sustainable Housing so that the door will be open to selling your development on to a housing association should you so desire. However, it is essential that you get us involved right from the start of the design process.

The Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) star rating system

Under The Code for Sustainable Homes when the environmental performance of new-build homes is assessed a star rating is given. The lowest star rating is 1 and the highest 6. A star rating of 6 is a zero carbon rating. A star rating of 3 is the minimum Code rating required by the following bodies:

  • Housing Corporation
  • English Partnerships
  • Homes and Communities Agency (HCA)

Obtaining a Code rating

A Code rating can only be confirmed by a licensed Code Assessor. Reaching any level above 1 star is complex and specialised.

This is where we come in. We are both licensed to issue a Code rating and we have the necessary expertise to guide you through the categories to achieve your desired, target Code rating.

It is essential to consider the level of rating you are aiming for before design work starts as it can be too late once you have a finalised design; we can offer pre-design advice to avoid costly mistakes and revisions.

We are licensed and offer assessments at very competitive fees. Contact us for a no-obligation fee quotation.
